Stating the Obvious?

For two years now, the Transportation Safety Board has investigated the crash of a ferry off the coast of British Columbia. In their report, the TSB can only say the two crew members on board were engaged in a conversation of a personal nature during the 14 minutes between the time they should have changed course and when they crashed.
A brief look at some other facts:
- The two crew members had just ended a personal relationship.
- The crash occured at night.
- The navigation equipment displays were dimmed
- The audible alarms of the navigation system were muted.
