Patting Himself on the Back

PM Stephen Harper gave his government a pat on the back today, praising the spring session as a very productive one. I for one agree with him, all things considered the new government got a lot done in a shortened period.

Due to the election, Parliament wasn't called into session until March, a full two months later than normal and with a new government many people expected a few rookie mistakes - especially in a minority parliament. Instead over the past three and a half months we saw a competent government that easily passed a throne speech, budget, and introduced legislation to keep four of their five centerpiece promise, all while avoiding the constant crisis that was the norm during the Martin government.
